AirPods and EMF Radiation
AirPods are a great way to listen to your favorite music, talk on the phone, or do most anything with sound. But are there risks with AirPods and EMF radiation? Let’s take a look at how these work and the risk involved.
How Do AirPods Work?
AirPods may look far from complex, but they’re more than just a simple earbud. In fact, they’re almost like having a small computer in your ear due to their microchips and sophisticated antenna. And when you look at the AirPod Pro version, these are even more complex, thus emitting more EMF radiation.
AirPods and EMF Radiation
With home testing, they are shown to emit approximately 7 to 7.6 mW/m^2 of RF radiation. This is actually a pretty high amount of EMF radiation, and you wear them right next to your head. They are seven times higher than what is considered a safe living environment when it comes to EMF radiation.
They’re just not considered safe. According to Environmental Health Trust
Dr. Joel Moskowitz, the Director of the Center for Family and Community Health at the School of Public Health at Berkeley states “More than a dozen studies have shown that low-intensity microwave radiation similar to that emitted by Bluetooth can open up the blood-brain barrier, a layer of cells that block pathogens and toxins in the body from reaching the brain. That could lead to conditions such as autism, dementia, and brain cancer.”
What Can You Do?
Well, the first thing to do about EMF radiation is to distance yourself from it. This makes it difficult if you are using AirPods since they are in your ears, on your head. If you simply must use them, try to limit the time you do so. For example, if using them for work, limit some of your music time if you can.
You can always invest in using wired or airtube headsets, which are much safer when it comes to EMF radiation. And again, if you cannot part with your AirPods, try to use them as little as you can.
