Smart meters are used by the utilities companies more often these days. If you’re in a bigger area, it’s more than likely you have one. These make it easier for companies to do things remotely. Instead of sending someone out to turn off your power, for example – they can now do this remotely. Here’s how you can utilize smart meter radiation protection.

What is a Smart Meter?

If you’re of a certain age, you might remember the meter readers coming to your home. They would read the meter, or could do things like shut the power off if the bill wasn’t paid. Sometimes this worked in the homeowner’s favor if the meter wasn’t as accessible as needed, and it bought some time to pay the bill.

For obvious reasons, the utility companies implemented smart meters, so almost everything can be done remotely. This saves manpower money because the workers don’t have to visit your home as much.

There are two types of smart meters. One is an automatic meter reading device, or the AMR meters. These were the first of its kind, and so that the signal can be picked up from as far away as the road or highway, they emit EMF radiation constantly.

The other type is called (AMI Meters) or Advanced Metering Interface. These are the ones we know as smart meters, and they actually communicate both ways. This means the utility company doesn’t even need a truck to drive by. This one works for power, gas, water, and more.

Why Are They Dangerous?

These smart meters have something called non-ionizing radiation. You may read that this is not dangerous, but the radiation still comes in through the walls, and this is 24/7. It’s the type of radiation that damages our cells and breaks apart DNA molecules.

They emit a high amount of EMF radiation, and we know how dangerous that is.

Smart Meter Radiation Protection

One way to protect yourself is to opt-out of having one in the first place. There are certain states where this is possible. You’ll have to research first, and some charge a fee for this, but there are about 15 states we know of that allows you do not have a smart meter on your home.

Getting a smart meter Faraday cage is a possibility to help protect yourself. It won’t protect you from all radiation, but it will help.

Lastly, you can use EMF protection paint along with a smart meter guard. This is good to use on the wall with the smart meter itself if you cannot afford to paint the entire house with it.
