What Is a Dirty Electricity Filter, and How Does It Help?
Most people have never heard of dirty electricity and aren’t unaware of what it means. Yet, dirty electricity is an issue that everyone should know. Here is more on what it is and how to protect yourself with a dirty electricity filter.
What Is Dirty Electricity?
According to POWER:
“Dirty electricity specifically comes from three different main culprit places. Number one, it’s delivered to our panel. Number two, we make it with our electronics—our solar inverters, our LED lighting, our DC devices. And, the wiring in our home—maybe half a mile of high-quality copper wiring—acts as a super antenna. So, that’s how we get dirty electricity into our house.
Simply put, it’s the leftover power stuck in your electrical wiring; the kind that is no longer usable.
Once upon a time, wiring in buildings (homes and commercial) used 60 hertz AC electricity. This was adequate and maintained a well-working system. As times changed with the invention of our modern electronics, so did the need for electricity. No longer is 60 hertz AC electricity the perfect fit. Instead, we use varying amounts of power.
Known as high-frequency voltage transients, this causes power surges. This remains in your wiring, and is known as dirty electricity. It radiates and spreads EMF radiation.
What Is a Dirty Electricity Filter?
There are two common types of dirty electricity filters. One is the Greenwave dirty electricity filtration system and the other is the Stetzerizer filter system.
The Greenwave Dirty Electricity Filtration System
Greenwave uses a proprietary system of EMI filtering which stands for Electromagnetic Interference filtering technology.
What they do is leave the 50/60 hertz electricity you’re supposed to have and filter out the dirty electricity.
Stezerizer Filters
Stezerizer Filters use a High-Frequency EM Pollution Reducer to transform dirty electricity back into 50/60 hertz power. It then filters out the dirty electricity between the range of 4 and 150 kHz.
Do I Need a Dirty Electricity Filter?
Most likely, yes. This is especially true if you are sensitive to EMF radiation, or you live near a cell tower or city, or have a lot of electronics in your presence.
You can’t simply use just one, though. An average home needs around 20 dirty electricity filters to keep things in an acceptable range. There are two main sellers of a dirty electricity meter – the Greenwave broadband EMI meter and the Graham-Stetzer meter.
For a simple and low-cost way of getting an idea of dirty electricity in your home, use an AM radio. Simply dial all the way to 530 kHz on the left. Go outside where you won’t hear much static. Go back inside and listen near walls and other areas. The more static you hear, the more dirty electricity you have.
Will These Filter Out All Dirty Electricity?
You may not be able to get rid of all dirty electricity, but these help. There are other ways as well, such as removing some main culprits. These include things like CFL lightbulbs, smart televisions, and even your dimmer switches.
