The Best EMF Meter

EMF Meter

If you’re reading this, then you most likely have either a rudimentary understanding of EMF meters or you have a more sophisticated knowledge of what they do. But if you happened to stumble onto this page wanting to learn more, here is what an EMF meter does and how you can find the best EMF meter.

What Is an EMF Meter?

An EMF meter is a device that measures electromagnetic fields, known as EMF. This EMF radiation is dangerous to your health and is created by all kinds of electrical equipment and devices. Things like solar panels, wiring and transformers for overhead lighting, and power lines have EMF radiation. And something you may use every day – your cellphone.

What Makes One Best?

There are five criteria that make a great EMF meter:

  1. Measures all kinds of EMF radiation
  2. Affordability
  3. Accuracy
  4. Number of features
  5. User-friendliness

Trifield – EMF Meter Model TF2

This model has all the bells and whistles. It detects all three types of EMF pollution. This includes AC electric, AC magnetic, and RF/microwave. For measuring fast digital signals, it captures fast pulses with Peak Hold. Another feature is that it measures all types of 5G – including 1-axis RF, 1-axis AC electric field, and 3-axis AC magnetic field.

Acoustimeter

This one has a wide frequency range: 200 MHz to 8 GHz and it’s extra sensitive, measuring  from 0.01 to 6.0 V/m. It has a built-in speaker, and it’s easy to use. One of the nice things about this one is, it’s small enough to carry without being burdensome. It has both an LED light and LCD text displaying peak, peak hold, and average levels of radio frequency electromagnetic fields.

Cornet ED-88TPlus EMF/RF Detector

This one has a wide radio frequency detection range : 100 MHz to 8 GHz. The peak RF power density measurement is 0.5 uW/m2 to 1.8 W/m2, and two low frequency ranges. They are low frequency range 1 magnetic field range: 50 Hz to 10 kHz, and 50 Hz to 1 kHz. You can data log and record up to 1000 measured data, and it has an LCD moving graphic Histogram to display signal power level.

The Verdict

These are just a few choices out there that fit all the criteria for being the best. You may find other alternatives that fit your needs better, but these do have it all – and at affordable prices.

I come from an R&D engineering background. Safely dealing with EMF was part of my work. As technology evolved and EMF moved from my work into the home, it became more important to deal with it in a sensible way. There is lots of controversy on EMF's impact to health. Fortunately, there are some simple principles you can apply to minimize impact and exposure until the science of EMF's impact on humans is resolved.
